Google Analytics TE.01

FIGURE.01Google Analytics

Today, I started learning about Google Analytics. To measure a website, I need to add JavaScript measurement code to collect information about user interactions. For an app, I can use the Firebase SDK to collect information about how people interact with it. This data can be collected without directly identifying individual users.

The measurements provide business insights. For example, when it comes to product interest, Google Analytics can show how many users visited a page selling games compared to a page selling wires. It can also show how many users purchased an item by tracking whether they reached the purchase confirmation page.

I wonder how this works when I am trying to market an app in an app store. How do I measure the success of my marketing efforts? One way could be to measure revenue and customer engagement. For websites, I could track leads, referral sources, lead value, and cost per lead. For apps, I could monitor downloads, feature usage, and subscriptions. When it comes to privacy, users expect transparency and control over how their data is collected and used.

If I want to connect a website to Google Analytics, I need to add a tag to my website. A tag is a small piece of code added to a website to measure user behaviour or support advertising functionality. Tags can be added through a tag management system, such as Google Tag Manager, or directly to the website’s code.

Once the Google Analytics tag has been added to a website, it can collect information about user interactions, such as geographic location, device type, page views, and form submissions. These interactions are collected as events in Google Analytics.
